From Doğubayazit, Turkey, Turkey, at the foot of Mt Ararat. This is a unique style rug, called a cicim (jee-jeem).   "Most Anatolian kilims are slit woven. Larger antique kilims were woven in two to three separate sections on small nomadic horizontal floor looms in three feet wide long strips, then carefully sewn together matching the patterns edges to create an ultimately wider rug. These pieces are still being produced in very limited quantities by nomadic tribes for their personal use."- Wikipedia.  Efffectively a Kilim, this unique and beautiful piece was crafted from 75-85 year  old vegetable dyed wool, but woven only 10-15 years ago in the "shop" of the carpet dealer from whom I purchased it in Doğubayazit.  3'x5' (.92 x 1.54m). Because of its unique embroidery from fragile old wool, it has a gorgeous patina but is a more fragile piece, to be hung or displayed as table runner and not to walk on.
