I saw this ring in early 1973 in a licensed antiquity shop in east Jerusalem and was completely awe-struck! The stone has a finely incised stag design, in ancient Sassanian style (?). And while the erotically carved motifs on the side, along with classical vine relief are suitably non-Christian, the shop-owner felt that the gold ring was created in the 17th C. Shank bottom is crimped, and the ring is fragile given its purity and hollow shank formation, but this is without doubt a unique piece!
